Jacqueline H. Lower practices with the firm’s employment law team, representing employers in all aspects of employment law, including review and drafting of employment policies.  Ms. Lower’s vast experience in defending employee common-law claims as well as claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other discrimination matters under various civil rights laws has given her an unique perspective on handling such claims on the behalf of various employers, including corporations, colleges, and universities.

 

Ms. Lower has litigation experience in state court where she has dealt with various common-law employment matters as retaliatory discharge in violation of public policy, breach of employment contracts, restrictive covenants, interference with contractual relations and prospective economic advantage, and defamation.  She also has litigation experience in federal court where she has handled employment claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Ms. Lower’s experience also includes defending and mediating employment law matters in various agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and the Illinois Human Rights Commission.  Ms. Lower has also had the opportunity to argue a disability-discrimination case before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
