Barrett S. Laspesa

Attorney

Barrett S. Laspesa focuses his practice on civil litigation with an emphasis on complex general liability matters, long term healthcare litigation, and the representation of nonprofit organizations. He has advised clients in multi-million dollar insurance coverage and liability disputes including healthcare, personal injury, and subrogation recovery actions. Mr. Laspesa regularly advises insurance and corporate clients on the nuances of complex civil litigation.

Barrett graduated from Benedictine University (Lisle, IL) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, as well as a minor in Political Science. He also holds an M.A., summa cum laude, from the Franciscan University of Ohio (Steubenville, Ohio). He completed his law degree at the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2017. While in law school, he clerked for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office where he worked on civil rights complaints. He also obtained an Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 license and represented U.S. veterans in federal court as part of the Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic.

Before a career in law, Mr. Laspesa worked as an educator in high schools throughout the Chicago area, where he taught in the social sciences and religion. He has also worked as an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sports official for many years. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, American Bar Association, and College Baseball Umpires Association (CBUA).
